As Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll work directly with senior management, actively shape our approach to contracts and compliance, and serve as the point of contact for departments such as Sales, Product, and Finance. When needed, you’ll manage external law firms as an expert on an equal footing.
What can you expect?
Contract Management & Commercial Law
- Independently drafting, negotiating, and reviewing SaaS contracts, MSAs, DPAs, NDAs, and SLAs in German and English
- Supporting sales teams in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, and the US in accelerating deal processes through pragmatic legal solutions
- Managing partnership agreements (reselling, referral)
- Supporting the DPO with GDPR compliance and clarifying data protection issues directly with customers
- Building and maintaining a contract library and standardized templates (DACH, UK, US)
- Supporting IP protection: trademarks, software copyrights, open-source compliance
- Support in establishing and maintaining insurance coverage
- Support for M&A activities and due diligence processes
- Establishment and optimization of internal legal processes, legal ops tools, AI support, and escalation paths
- Close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Security on regulatory requirements (e.g., NIS2, AI Act, CRA)
- Regular reporting to management on legal risks and opportunities
What should you bring along?
- First and Second State Examinations in Law or equivalent degree
- Several years of professional experience as an in-house counsel or at a law firm specializing in commercial, tech, and SaaS law, including experience negotiating software and SaaS contracts (in German and English)
- In-depth knowledge of German contract, IT, and data protection law
- Practical experience with U.S. and U.K. contract law (negotiating and reviewing English-language contracts) is a plus
- Fluent in spoken and written German and English
- Pragmatic problem-solver: You find solutions that comply with legal and business requirements rather than blocking deals
- Strong communication skills with non-legal stakeholders
- Independent, organized, and proactive—you bring order where there is none
- Willingness to take ownership and build the legal team for the long term
